Frequently Asked Questions

1. What should I wear?

Comfortable exercise clothes such as a t-shirt or tank top and shorts, light sweatpants or tights are appropriate.  Try not to wear anything too baggy.

2. What should I have available?

You need only your yoga mat and a small hand towel if you sweat.  It is helpful to have at least 2 blocks, a strap, and 3 to 5 practice blankets also.  If you do not have everything suggested please let us know at the time you book your class and we will bring what you don’t have.

3. I am new to yoga.  Is a private lesson appropriate?

Private lessons are a good way for a new student to learn the practice because the teacher can customize the practice to the students needs and abilities.  This is especially true if you have injuries or have not been engaged in regular physical activity.

4. Do I need to be flexible to practice yoga?

No!  You need not be flexible to practice yoga.  However, yoga will indeed help you regain your flexibility.  If you commit to a consistent practice, you will begin see large improvements in your flexibility.  Many excellent yogis begin yoga not being able to touch their toes!

5. I have injuries.  Can I still practice yoga?

Yes.  Yoga is a safe practice with which you can begin to rehabilitate injuries.  We are well-trained in anatomy and will provide appropriate modifications for you.  Yoga is a complete form of exercise which also helps to build smaller, minor muscles so that your musculature becomes more balanced.  This will help you prevent future injuries.  If you do have an injury, please remember to let us know before your class begins.

6.   How often should I practice?

You will begin to experience benefits even if you practice only once a week.  If you practice 2 to 3 times a week, you will experience even greater benefits.  The most important thing is to try to practice when you can so that yoga will gradually become a part of your regular routine.

7.   What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payment in cash and by personal check.
